I just got an invite for the an artzine that's coming up over at WhoredCanvas.net and... more and more I find myself facepalming over stuff like this.

The artists that have signed on are are pretty great, and the site itself is chocked full of potentially useful content. And I wish them a hearty and lucrative success. HOWEVER. Really? Your site's name is Whored Canvas?

I am not "whoring" my canvas. I am not a "canvas whore." That's just plain old bad branding. "Hi, I am professional artist. Perhaps you have seen my work on WHOREDCANVAS?" I am never going to say those words. "Deviant"Art is bad enough. The whole thing smacks of high-school goth art project gone completely hackneyed and cliché. Also, my mom looks at my art, and I am never sending her a link to WHOREDcanvas.net -- I'm expecting a call from our IT kids, just for clicking the link while I was at work.

Whatever. Thank you -- but no, thank you.

Yeah, I hear that. I know exactly what you mean about deviantART, too ... I get really sick of explaining to people that there's nothing inherently 'deviant' about the art posted on here. The community here is great, so I guess it's a necessary evil, but still. STILL. Won't somebody think of the children?

yeah, nicely said. i also dislike that, donno even how to identify that slang, where people refere to what they create and must somehow be emotionally connected with as "shit", "dump", "junk"...

Well put, J. Whoredcanvas, FUCKING BODYPALM... like in one of those diving shows where a dive goes haywire and the body gets to be at 90 degree and explode into the water at that degree, experiencing the full wrath of the water spank!
